Get Racecourse Ready

Ladies Day Fashion

Racing season is in full swing and we’ve got all the tips and trends to get you on course for a coveted best dressed crown

Bright and Bold

Bright colours and bold prints will really help you to stand out from the crowd, and a lot of the brighter colour dresses are summer stock, so they’re on sale! Asymmetrical hem lines are popping up all over the place in the last few weeks too and we love it, it’s a nice new alternative to the high low hem that’s been popular for a while now.

Pink Dress, Oasis was €72, now €45 , Blue Dress, Born €64.99, Floral Dress, Quiz Clothing €39, Orange Dress, Warehouse, €64,  Yellow Dress, Warehouse €51.

Statement Separates

Remember, it’s Best Dressed not Best Dress! While you can’t go wrong with a classic cut dress, separates have also had a lot of Ladies Day success. Culottes are cool. Whether it’s a jumpsuit or trousers, they’re perfect for race day because they’re comfortable but still chic. Choosing a skirt and top allows you more freedom than a dress to put your own stamp on your outfit. We love the bow detail on this white skirt and the back detail on this simple camisole top, and there’s that asymmetrical hem again!…..

Floral skirt, Warehouse €61, White skirt, River Island €47, Trousers, Topshop €60, Cami, Next, €18.50, Skirt, Pamela Scott, was €39.99 Now €28

Top Tips
  • Comfort is key. A day at the races can be a really long day so chose the shoes that you know will see you through the day. The stilettos might look lovely, but you don’t want to be walking over and back collecting your winnings looking like a new born foal.
  • Impeccable grooming is a must and really adds to your outfit. Our Friday’s Fair Lady judge Jane Swarbrigg from Inglot will be paying particular attention to finishing touches like hair and make up.
  • Wear a headpiece, it will really complete your look. Choose a style that is in proportion to you, compliments your outfit and that you feel confident wearing. You could even let your headpiece be the showstopper, by pairing with something really classic and pared back, like this navy dress from Vila,
  • So, don’t be afraid to introduce high street brands, a winning outfit is all about how it is put together as opposed to where it is from! If you don’t believe us, just check out our past Friday’s Fair Lady winners below.
