Spring Wardrobe Staples styled by Ruth McCourt

By 9th March 2020 Fashion

This month I’ve chosen some of my favourite wardrobe staples from the new Spring stock in Athlone Towncentre.

Keep scrolling to see what I chose from Zara, River Island, Vila and Topshop; how to style them as mix and match outfits, and how to dress for the transition from Autumn/Winter to Spring/Summer.

Light blue denim jeans are a staple for my wardrobe. I tried these new Blair High-Rise jeans in River Island and teamed it with this blue floral print frill embroidered blouse which is now reduced from €45 to €33 in the current ‘River Island up to 30% off style must haves‘ promotion!

Another favourite wardrobe staple of mine is a white shirt. I styled this River Island white lace frill long sleeve poplin shirt again with their Blair jeans. I loved the high neck, the detail on the shoulders and the diamante buttons. It would be fab with leather leggings or under a dress either. There are endless ways to style a white shirt like this!

When I spotted this bardot frill blouse in River Island I knew it would be a popular top for Spring/Summer. It’s the perfect transition top from Winter to Spring and to introduce some colour into your wardrobe. I would also team it with white jeans.

This shirt dress from Vila caught my eye. Shirt dresses can be worn in so many different ways. For a more Spring/Summer look I would team it with white jeans, a white t-shirt or a white fitted top and wear it unbuttoned over the outfit, with sandals or heels.

I also chose this burnt copper shirt dress as I thought the pattern on it was really unusual. I teamed it with a black belt to accentuate my waist. Similar to the shirt dress above, this could also be worn open over other outfits, and with the colouring in this dress it could be worn with black, white, or blue.

The Vila shirt dress I tried on is also available as a top so I tried this with black wide leg culottes and heels. I spotted this orange jacket which I wanted to try on too as I had seen a similar felt one in
River Island last month but this jacket is leather which would be a stunning Spring/Summer jacket.

This white suit from Vila would be the perfect outfit for a communion during the Summer months, which is something I am starting to get a lot of questions about recently. I styled it here with this ¾ sleeve square neck top, which you could also team with blue jeans and sandals for another Summer outfit.

Again this is another great outfit for an event, for work, or for a communion or confirmation. I loved this Zara suit, it was so comfortable and so easy to mix and match with other pieces. I styled it with black heels
and a black bodysuit here. I love the Zara bodysuits and have bought them in a few colours!

I loved these beige suit pants so much I had to purchase them! I tried them on with lots of different tops and blazers to show how versatile they are. They are available in purple and black also.

Lilac is going to be huge for Spring/Summer 2020 and you will see lilac pieces in shops all around Athlone Towncentre. This lilac skirt would be a perfect addition to your Spring/Summer wardrobe. I styled it here with this cute bow detail jumper that I spotted on my last visit to Zara.

I love white jeans for Spring/Summer, I usually pick up a pair each year. They really brighten up outfits and are fab with a tan – I’ll be sticking to the fake tan! I tried on these white Joni jeans in Topshop with this loose white t-shirt, chunky white runners (which I love!!) and this olive green vinyl coat to be prepared for the weather. The chunky runners give me some height also and can be styled with lots of different outfits.
