“Things Are About To Get Seriously Stylish” – 2017 Winner Rebecca Rose on Friday’s Most Stylish

Fridays Most Stylish at Galway Races 2019.

Racing season is here once more, which can only mean one thing for fashion lovers – things are about to get seriously stylish!

When it comes to Ladies Day at the races few eyes are on the racecourse, competition in and around the Marquee is incredibly strong and with thousands of euros worth of prizes at stake, so how do you stand out from the crowd?

The perfect outfit takes lots of planning and preening and as a previous winner on many occasions and in particular at ‘Fridays Fair Lady’ now known as ‘Fridays Most Stylish’ here are a few of my top tips for having a brilliant best dressed ladies day outfit at the races.

BEST DRESSED LADY TIP NO. 1

GO CLASSIC

Classic doesn’t have to mean boring, I think it is fantastic to embrace a current trend if it works for you but you should always let your body shape and colouring dictate your choice This for me is key! Classic is always a good choice for the races, remember its race wear not evening wear, which I must say is my biggest gripe. Long gowns for me do not fit in anywhere at the races, not only are they impractical but they do not fit the brief.

WEAR A WOW HAT

I would suggest to make sure your hat is eye catching, (for all the right reasons) and that coordinates with your outfit. Try on lots of different styles before choosing so as your pick one to suit the shape of your face. Visit your local milliner who will help you. Do not opt for a fascinator from your local chemist.

Once you have chosen your perfect headpiece walk around the house in it for an hour or so, just to make sure it doesn’t pinch and that there is no problems with it staying in place’, this is very important as you don’t want to spend a day walking around with an uncomfortable hat as this will not go unnoticed by the judges. When you are comfortable your confidence will shine through.

BE INDIVIDUAL

Think outside the box, I know I just said to go classic but that’s not for everyone, there’s also no harm in mixing things up a bit if that’s your style. Suits, Jumpsuits and coordinates are a great way to do this. Don’t be afraid to wear colour. Not only will you stand out from the crowd but colour always photographs better! Do not be afraid also to mix designer and high street, this is completely acceptable and brings individuality to your look.

ADDING THE FINISHING TOUCHES

On ladies day the judges are looking at the whole package so grooming is key to carrying off your outfit with confidence. Make sure nails, hair and makeup are immaculate to achieve the utmost elegance. I always try to match my nails to my look, this brings a little bit of fun to the outfit. Be careful when applying tan too that you don’t go overboard and end up tangoed, this is not a good look!!

When accessorising your outfit make sure your shoes, bag and jewellery all match with your look. Additionally ensure your shoes are comfortable as it is a very long day and you don’t want to destroy your day by wearing ill fitting, uncomfortable heels.

WHATEVER THE WEATHER

As we all know our Irish climate is unpredictable so be prepared for the worst on Ladies Day. Make sure you have a coat or umbrella that will compliment your outfit.

Fridays Most Stylish at Galway is always a more relaxed, less competitive event so have fun, enjoy it and be confident!

I will look forward to seeing you all on Friday August 2nd!

Lots of Love
