Three was the first to launch mobile broadband in Ireland with a datacard modem in 2006, as well as being the first operator in Ireland to offer a pre-paid mobile broadband service. Three operates the most advanced high speed network in the country and uses technology to support speeds of up to 7.2 mb per second, upgrading to 14.4 mb per second at the end of 2010.
